The Elk Rapids Community Cupboard started in March 1983 with 7 churches and 26 volunteers providing food to 5 families in need. It is located in the First Presbyterian Church at 404 Spruce St, Elk Rapids. The physical entrance to the cupboard is at the corner of Chippewa and Spruce streets.

Over the last many years the Community Cupboard has served as many as 60 households in need, with love and compassion, with every sack of groceries provided.

Groceries provided include cereal, juice, peanut butter, fresh fruits and vegetables, ground beef, chicken, hotdogs, bread, soup, pasta, macaroni and cheese, eggs, canned vegetables and fruit, and many other items.

Special baskets are provided for Easter, 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.

The Community Cupboard is a 501C3 organization that is fully supported through the generous donations of goods, services, and money by the local community, businesses, and organizations.

We partner with the Northwest Food Coalition for bi-weekly pickup of fresh fruits, vegetables, canned items, eggs, and other items. Please visit their website at northwestmifoodcoalition.org for more information.
